A little guide to your first visit
You’ll be guided all the way by our expert osteopaths so you feel relaxed and in control of your treatment. Here is a short guide about what you may expect from your initial consultation…
When booked in, you will receive an automated text and email confirming your appointment and with details of your practitioner along with direct contact details. You will also receive a reminder the day before your appointment.
On your first consultation, a detailed case history will be taken, both clinical and Osteopathic. We will examine the region, associated areas and formulate a diagnosis.
It is important for us to have a full medical history from all patients. This allows us to safely eliminate any underlying conditions and possible medication side effects that may be contributing to your presenting complaint. For this reason we request that you bring a list of all prescription and non-prescription medications being taken.
We do request patients to undress down to their underwear to ensure that we can fully assess the spine, joints and soft tissues. This enables us to identify what tissues are causing the symptoms and test and treat appropriately.
Discretion is of paramount importance to us and we will ensure you feel comfortable at all stages of this process. Towels will be provided for your discretion and all practitioners will leave the consultation room while you undress and dress.
We always recommend patients wear undergarments that they feel comfortable to be examined and treated in. We are more than happy for you to have a chaperone present.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. If another responsible adult is accompanying them, we do require parental consent for this.
Your practitioner will explain the diagnosis to you and discuss the treatment plan. We use a range of visual guides to allow you to fully understand what we are treating.
Where appropriate, we may request to write to your GP or other health care professional for further investigation. We will always inform you if we feel that treatment is not appropriate.

You will also receive a treatment on your first visit and we will discuss the regularity of any follow up treatments we may feel are suitable.
We welcome and urge all patients to ask any questions they may have, in order for you to be fully informed and understand all aspects of the treatment. No question is ignored, no matter how big or small it may seem.
We run a very busy practice and are commonly very booked up. We ask that if patients are unable to attend their appointment, that they inform us at least 24 hours before hand. This enables other patients requiring appointments to be offered the slot.
Parking is complementary for all patients. We ask patients to bring their parking ticket in with them so that we can validate this before you leave.
The nearest entrance to the clinic is via the north entrance. There are signs for this throughout the car park. Entering from the main entrance is also possible and the hotel staff will be happy to direct you to the Health spa and Gymnasium where the clinic is located.
Take a seat outside the clinic room where your practitioner will come and collect you. We ask that you do not try to enter the room as there may be a consultation in progress.
